Hi, I’m Alessandra (Ale for short). I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Chapman University’s Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and Behavioral Sciences (aka ‘The Brain Institute’).
I completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. Before that, I studied in Milan and Barcelona.
My work is mainly in the Philosophy of Mind and Perception, at the intersection with Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Artificial Intelligence. I am interested in foundational questions about the nature of cognition, the relationship between sensory mechanisms and conscious experience, and in how philosophy can inform current research in AI – especially machine learning.
